This no-frills blog is to chronicle my lifelong interest in sewing and tailoring. I prefer to focus on this website rather than social media platforms.
‘The Fell’ is named for my favourite hand stitch, the felling stitch.
My day job as a lawyer is intellectually challenging and in some ways, can be creative and artistic. Eg: drafting contracts and terms and conditions, getting the words to express the intention and having it all work together as a whole is very satisfying.
I enjoy making clothes a lot. I make my own patterns from measurements and have an addiction to buying new and vintage commercial patterns ‘for research purposes’. I collect vintage sewing magazines and have a growing library of beautiful sewing and tailoring books. My enthusiasm for learning never seems to be exhausted.
I’m not at all a fashionista and have no formal fashion qualifications. My design community comes from attending in-person classes over the past 15 years or so, and doing a Savile Row tailoring course.
Welcome and hope you find this interesting.
